Usage Tips

To use your Energy as Efficiently as Possible:

1
Upgrade to energy efficient A/C, lights & appliances

Efficiency is the name of the game - whether it be your appliances, windows, insulation, etc. Check with your utility to see if they offer any rebates or incentives. They frequently do.

2
Adjust your thermostat or install extra solar

Air conditioning uses more energy than anything else in your home, and it's not even close. Turning down the A/C by even one degree adds up to significant savings.

Or plan for extra solar and enjoy the temperature you prefer.

3
Don’t go overboard

A funny thing happens when people go solar. A lot of times, they start using more energy than they did before. You'll save the most if you keep your power use stable or plan for increased usage with extra solar.

Power Outages

Your solar panels send extra energy back to the grid, and that could be dangerous to utility workers fixing an outage. For their safety, your system will turn itself off during a power outage. Once power is restored, your system will turn back on automatically.

If you have a battery, your solar system automatically flips to your battery for power. Never again will your utility be able to turn off your lights.
